Montana Native Plant Society

The title for this video comes from a Native American Proverb that reads:

“May your life be like a wildflower, growing freely in the beauty and joy of each day”

Avid outdoorsman Mike Marsh began posting his wildflower photographs daily to Facebook in January 2021. The positive responses he received led to enhancing his content by pairing poetry to each wildflower he posted. Culminating in an invitation to speak to one of the Montana Native Plant Society chapters based near his hometown of Helena, Mike faced the dilemma of showing his images and poems over the online Zoom meeting without having a direct internet connection that reached his rural home.

The AMS Team created a video presentation that could be timed to stay within the meeting schedule constraints and played for viewers over Zoom by the meeting host. This format gave Mike the freedom to join the meeting by his cellphone for a Q&A session after the video was presented. This 28-minute long program received rave reviews and is currently airing on a Montana television channel.

“We've had a good deal of meaningful feedback on the program. For long-time native plant folks, sharing Mike's experience of discovering this interest as he did was indeed rewarding. The extremely high production values in the video AMS Digital produced from Mike's material really wowed people too. We had come to Mike on account of the poetry he had attached to his posts on FaceBook, and that carried through nicely in the program. There are any number of amazing photo posts to that group, but the poetry really made his stand out... Our (television station) technician thought PBS would air this. I think that is based on the quality.”
